Ohio University Libraries authentication system for online databases, journals, books, and other resources is being moved to a new address. As part of this change, all resource URLs containing proxy.library.ohio.edu will be updated and will eventually expire.

Links to library resources found on the OHIO University Libraries websiteLibrary Search, and Library Guides will be updated automatically - no action is needed for those.

Your action is needed between March 23 and before May 4, 2026:

  • Update any personal bookmarks or copied links you’ve added to Canvas or syllabi by simply replacing proxy.library.ohio.edu with proxy2.library.ohio.edu.
  • If you use the Zotero Connectorupdate your proxy (links to directions) in settings to proxy2.library.ohio.edu. You may also need to update your existing Zotero records URLs that still include the old proxy address. (More information about Zotero on the Libraries’ Zotero guide.)

The current proxy.library.ohio.edu address is expected to retire on or shortly after May 4, 2026. After that date, any links to Libraries’ eBooks, journal articles, streaming films, etc. that have not been updated will no longer work.

This move will increase the stability and continuity of library resource access in the future. Please feel free to contact the Libraries with any questions.
