Ohio University Libraries to host award-winning author William T. Vollmann on Oct. 21

Ohio University Libraries will welcome acclaimed author William T. Vollmann to the Athena Cinema on Wednesday, Oct. 21, for a conversation about his newest work, “A Table for Fortune.”

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Athena Cinema’s Second Floor Theater. An audience question and answer session and a book signing will follow the conversation. Books will be available for purchase from Little Professor Book Center. The Athena Cinema is located at 20 South Court Street in Athens.

“A Table for Fortune,” is a thoroughly researched, definitive history of American post-war foreign policy with a deft, moving chronicle of a family's descent into resentment and gloom.

One of the most ambitious and prolific writers of his generation, Vollmann is known for combining immersive reporting with sweeping explorations of history, morality and human experience. He is the author of more than two dozen books of fiction and nonfiction including the National Book Award-winning "Europe Central,” the environmental treatise “Carbon Ideologies,” and “Rising Up and Rising Down: Some Thoughts on Violence, Freedom and Urgent Means.“

This event is free and open to the public. Free tickets will be available at the door.
