Keeping Bobcats Informed, Feb. 28, 2024

Bobcat Families,

It’s hard to believe that midterms and spring break are just around the corner! With that, your Bobcat may have need for some extra support as they prepare for their exams. Please help us guide them to the Academic Achievement Center if they’re in need of a tutor, writing assistance or other academic services. If you’re seeing your Bobcat over spring break, I hope it gives you a chance to relax, connect and enjoy time together.

Next week also marks the beginning of Women's History Month, a time to uplift the women in our lives. Students can attend events like the International Women's Day Symposium in Walter Hall or a virtual panel discussion with international OHIO alumni.

Read on for reminders about spring break housing and dining options, ways for our students to stand up for each other, and career opportunities.

Dean of Students

What's your Green Dot?

Bystanders - If you see something, say something

As Bobcats, we watch out for each other. Students have the power to make our community safer by stepping in and standing up for each other. Remember the three D's of bystander intervention:

  • Direct: Step in and address the situation yourself.
  • Distract: Create a diversion to interrupt the situation.
  • Delegate: Recruit others to help with the situation.

Learn how the Survivor Advocacy Program can support your student

Ohio University’s Survivor Advocacy Program’s (SAP) mission is to provide confidential support, trauma-focused counseling, and advocacy services to student survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence and stalking. They provide services regardless of when or where an incident occurred, and students can always choose if they want to report the incident to law enforcement or University Equity and Civil Rights Compliance.

SAP can help students understand their reporting options, and if a student does report, accompany them throughout a reporting process and connect them with other resources on campus and in the community. SAP also facilitates a survivor support group each semester.

Calling all student org leaders

OHIO students are shown at a table signing papers and talking

If a student organization is currently using a ww2 website, they will need to move its content to Bobcat Connect by March 31, 2024. Students can find a full list of student org sites using the ww2 server, and check for theirs.

If their org is on that spreadsheet but they already moved to Bobcat Connect, no further action is needed. Students can contact with questions.
