Music Industry Summit FAQs

Who is the event for?

The Music Industry Summit is for everyone! We encourage OHIO students, faculty and staff, prospective high school students and educators, musicians, music entrepreneurs and industry professionals, or anyone who is actively involved in or wants to know more about the business of music to attend.

What does it cost to attend?

The Music Industry Summit will continue to be free for students and educators at any institution and Ohio University alumni

New for 2025, there will be a registration fee for all other in-person attendees. The early bird fee will start at $50 for the entire conference and will increase leading up to the Summit. Conference registration will include access to all primary programming and evening networking events, including our opening party. Livestreams of the main stage sessions will be available to anyone free of charge

All attendees will be required to purchase tickets for the Closing Night Concert at Memorial Auditorium if they wish to attend.

When will conference registration open?

When will the full agenda be announced?

Speaker and artist announcements will begin in November 2024 and continue up to Summit. The full schedule will be released by early March 2025. A draft version of the schedule for planning purposes can be viewed here

Will the Summit be held in person, virtually, or both?

The Summit will be held in-person at on the Athens campus of Ohio University. Main stage sessions will be livestreamed via YouTube for those who would like to join virtually, and select sessions will be recorded and available for on-demand viewing following the Summit. For the 2025 Summit, virtual attendees will not have access to the dedicated Ohio University Music Industry mobile app. Breakout sessions, mentoring roundtables, and performances will not be livestreamed.

What does registration for the in-person conference include?

Registration gives you access to all panel and interview sessions in Baker University Center Ballroom on March 26 and March 27, 2025. Seating for each session will be provided on a first come, first seated basis. Tickets for concerts are not included with any registration, paid or free, and will require a purchase. Some programming like mentoring roundtables may require an additional RSVP; more details to be announced.

Will I need to register to participate in the virtual conference?

Yes, registration will be required to participate. Virtual attendees will be provided a YouTube link to access the livestreams. Virtual attendees will not have access to the app. 

When registration for the in-person conference closes, can I still register onsite?

In-person day-of registration will be available if we have not reached capacity. Information on this will be announced closer to time.

Why do I need to download the dedicated Music Industry Summit app?

All in-person attendees should download the app to build out their profile, connect with other attendees, access the schedule, and more. For in-person attendees, the app will be your one-stop-shop for all the info you need and will be your entry into the Summit. 

Virtual attendees will access the livestreams through YouTube and will not have access to the app.

What time zone will be used for the virtual conference?

Sessions will take place in Eastern Daylight Time.

I registered to attend virtually, how do I access the sessions?

Livestreamed sessions will be available through YouTube. A link will be provided to everyone who registers for the virtual programming.

How do I request an ASL interpreter or other accommodation to attend this event?

Please contact Mackenzie Kucharsky by February 28, 2025, to request an ASL interpreter or other accommodation.

Can I take photographs and videos at the conference?

You are welcome to take photos and videos at the event, but please do not use flash photography as it is very disruptive. If you capture a good one, be sure to share on social media and tag us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!

If I leave and plan to return later, will I be able to hold my seat?

As there is limited seating, if you leave, we unfortunately will not be able to hold your seat. 

Will there be free public Wi-Fi at the conference?

Yes, you can connect to the OHIO University Guest network. No login is required. Keep in mind that this connection is low speed.

What are the dining options at the conference?

Meals will not be provided at the panel sessions, but several options are available for dining within Baker Center, and steps outside of Baker Center in uptown Athens.
