Social Sciences Emphasis
You must meet the following requirements to earn an A.A. with social sciences emphasis:
• Arts and Humanities: 15 credit hours (must include Tier I English composition)
• Natural Science, Applied Science, and Quantitative Skills: 15 credit hours (must include Tier I quantitative skills)
• Social Sciences: 30 credit hours
• Electives: 36 credit hours
• Minimum required for graduation: 96 credit hours

University College has an array of programs that help undergraduates make the transition to campus life and higher-level academic expectations, fulfill their intellectual potential, and become involved in the university community. University College manages Bobcat Student Orientation, the orientation to Ohio University, the thriving Learning Communities Program, UC 115—the University Experience course, the annual Majors Fair, Commuter and Adult Student Services, and a diverse set of activities designed to help undecided students select the ideal major. The Academic Advancement Center supplies tutoring for many different courses, collaborates with faculty on Supplemental Instruction, administers the College Adjustment Program, and offers a full set of skills courses.

University College
University College promotes the intellectual and personal development of undergraduates and especially focuses on the needs of first-year students. Through its dedicated advising and many effective programs, University College promotes undergraduates’ academic success and co-curricular engagement, facilitates their pivotal transitions, and fosters the formation of community among students, faculty, and staff. University College is the college of entry for one of every four students, most of whom have not chosen a major, and the home of the Academic Advancement Center and the Army and Air Force ROTC programs.
