Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship
Application deadline is May 3
Title VIII, Section 811 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act, as amended by the Affordable Care Act of 2010 authorizes grants to provide funding for traineeships to students in advanced nurse education programs for the costs of full or partial tuition, books and fees and reasonable living expenses (stipends) during the traineeship period. Applications will be accepted from eligible applicants for primary care nurse practitioner such as the Family Nurse Practitioner student only. The current primary care workforce in the United States is inadequate to meet the growing demand for primary care services. Moreover, the increasing demand for preventative health services will widen the gap between demand and the available primary care workforce. If you wish to apply, please fill out the enclosed application and submit it to Mary Bowen, project director, at bowenm2@ohio.edu. Bowen may be reached at 740-593-1439. Bowen or Kathy Rose-Grippa, associate director of the nursing graduate Program will be available to answer questions about these traineeships. Grippa can be reached at grippa@ohio.edu or 740-593-4479.
