OHIO’s RN to BSN program named top in state, third in nation for Online RN to BSN Programs for 2026 by Nurse.org
Ohio University’s online RN to BSN program has been recognized as the top program in Ohio and the third-best asynchronous online RN to BSN program in the nation by Nurse.org, further solidifying OHIO’s reputation for excellence in nursing and healthcare education.
The rankings highlight programs that provide flexibility for working nurses while maintaining high academic quality and career preparation. Ohio University’s program was recognized for its fully online asynchronous format, student-centered approach and focus on preparing nurses for the evolving demands of healthcare.
“This recognition reflects Ohio University’s commitment to preparing nurses for leadership in today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment,” said School of Nursing Executive Director Char Miller. “Our RN to BSN program is designed to meet working professionals where they are while equipping them with the advanced skills needed to improve patient care and strengthen communities.”
Expanding clinical experiences and real-world leadership opportunities
The recognition comes a few months after OHIO unveiled a major refresh of its online RN to BSN curriculum to align with updated American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials and evolving industry expectations. The redesigned curriculum emphasizes competency-based education, leadership development, patient safety, public health, social determinants of health and more.
The revised curriculum also expands clinical experiences in community and population health and capstone learning, helping students gain real-world leadership and care coordination experience while continuing to work in the field.
Wide recognition continues for OHIO’s healthcare programs
OHIO has continued to receive national recognition across a wide range of healthcare and graduate programs including OHIO’s online master’s in nursing program being ranked 12th in the nation the last two years and second in the state of Ohio among public institutions, and being ranked fourth for best online master’s in nursing for Veterans and first in the state, by U.S. News and World Report. OHIO’s nurse practitioner program also ranked third in Ohio and the online BSN to DNP program ranked second nationally by AllNurses.com.
Recently, OHIO’s School of Nursing also graduated its largest class of nursing students from the Athens Campus with 124 graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program on the Athens Campus proudly received their degrees.
