Military Transfer Credit

At Ohio University, we recognize the value of your military training and experience. Many service members and veterans may be eligible to receive college credit based on prior learning gained during their service.

We use nationally recognized tools and faculty-reviewed recommendations to evaluate military learning and determine how it may apply toward your degree.

How Military Transfer Credit Works

Step 1: Submit Your Military Transcript

Request your official transcript through:

  • Joint Services Transcript (JST)
  • Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)

Step 2: We Review Your Experience

Ohio University evaluates your military training and occupations using faculty-reviewed credit recommendations.

Step 3: Credit is Applied (When Applicable)

Credit may be awarded toward:

  • Major requirements
  • General education requirements
  • Elective credit

Submitting Official Transcripts (Required for Credit)

To receive official transfer credit, transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing source:

  • JST: Send electronically to
    Ohio University – All Campuses
  • CCAF: Send to
    Ohio University – Undergraduate Admissions
    or
    Ohio University – Graduate Admissions

👉 Transcripts submitted by the student (email or upload) cannot be used for official credit evaluation.
