Participants evaluate their experience through an extensive process assessment tool. These are some highlighted responses from the instrument implemented in Fall 2016 (n=3587):

  • 95.0% agreed that being in a learning community was a positive experience
  • 94.5% knew their fellow learning community students at least somewhat well
  • 95.3% agreed that being in a learning community helped them to meet other students at Ohio University
  • 92.5% sat with other members of their learning community in their linked courses at least sometimes
  • 96.4% participated in out-of-class activities with their learning community at least sometimes
  • 93.8% indicated their LCL/peer mentor was responsive or very responsive to questions and concerns
  • 95.5% agreed their LCL/peer mentor helped develop an atmosphere of respect among learning community members
  • 91.7% agreed their LC course instructor demonstrated enthusiasm for working with new students
  • 94.4% agreed the LC course increased their knowledge of resources on campus for getting involved
  • 96.3% agreed the LC course provided information regarding academic expectations at OHIO
