Student Writing Center
Located on Alden Library's 2nd Floor, the Student Writing Center provides free scheduled and walk-in face-to-face appointments as well as online appointments.
Assistance is available at any stage of the writing process, from understanding the assignment to looking at the revised draft.
You can get help with developing the thesis or main idea, organizing or developing the ideas, the bibliography, grammatical issues or any other writing concerns.
Tutors are not available every hour that the Writing Center is open. Students are encouraged to check the online schedule for tutor availability.

- No asynchronous tutoring
- No walk ins

What to bring with you:
- writing utensil
- specific questions
- your assignment sheet or writing prompt
- written draft (hard paper copy preferred)
- willingness to take part in the session
- or, nothing at all; talking about you are thinking can help you with your writing.
Submit A Paper Online
OHIO students may submit a paper by clicking here. No more than 10 pages submitted at one time in the online asynchronous option.
Students should expect to see their papers within 2-3 days after they are submitted. Papers submitted on Friday may not be returned with comments until the following Tuesday or Wednesday.
The SWC is fully staffed at this time.
However, if you are interested in a tutoring position and would like your application to be on file, please email a resume, cover letter with references, and a 10-15 page writing sample (which can be a combination of essays) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are an instructor and would like to recommend a student as a possible writing tutor, please email us applicable information.
