'Fall' in love with the music of OHIO with Concerts on the Green

This fall, the beauty of Ohio University’s College Green will once again provide the backdrop for live music as the OHIO Performing Arts and Concert Series and the School of Music present Concerts on the Green, a free outdoor concert series showcasing the talents of OHIO students and faculty.

Beginning Aug. 25, a different ensemble will take the stage each week at 6 p.m., offering students, families, faculty, staff and community members an opportunity to enjoy live music in one of the University’s most recognizable outdoor spaces.

According to Drew Holzaepfel, director of the Performing Arts and Concert Series, the idea of doing the Concerts on the Green came from the days of COVID when programming like this would take place out in the open air of College Green.

“As we returned to campus, I was looking for programming that we could deliver outdoors. I got the idea from the School of Music’s Under the Elms summer concert series and think that it’s a great way to showcase some of our School of Music and Ohio University faculty and students,” Holzaepfel added. “It is a great community and family event.”

Now, the series will give longtime audiences an opportunity to experience ensembles they know while introducing new audiences to the breadth of musical talent at OHIO.

“Many of the audience members will be aware of the ensembles being presented, and this will be a wonderful opportunity to see them on our beautiful main green,” Holzaepfel said. “For those who have not had the opportunity to see them, this will be a great chance to be introduced to the very talented students and faculty we have at Ohio University.”

The fall 2026 series is presented by the OHIO Performing Arts and Concert Series, Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts and OHIO School of Music, with support from the Ohio Arts Council and Envisage Wealth. Ohio University Event Services also provides production support.
