Scripps College names Angela Hosek as interim associate dean
Dr. Angela Hosek has been named as the interim associate dean of Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication.
Hosek, who currently serves as a professor in the School of Communication Studies, will begin her new role on July 1, 2026. She will replace Dr. Aimee Edmondson, who was named interim dean of the Scripps College of Communication in May, following Dr. Scott Titsworth’s decision to step down from the dean position and return to teaching.
"I am tremendously excited to join the executive leadership team and to serve the College in this new way,” Hosek said. “I look forward to showcasing the research and creative activities of our students and faculty, assisting with assessment initiatives, and deepening relationships to enhance the important work we do in the Scripps College of Communication.
Hosek first joined Ohio University in 2014, also serves as the director of the School of Communication Studies COMS 1030 Public Speaking Program and the School’s Graduate Teacher Training Academy that trains Communication Studies and Masters of Fine Arts graduate teaching assistants.
She has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and is a co-author of “Human Communication,” (McGraw Hill) and a co-editor of “The Handbook of Instructional Communication,” (Kendall Hunt). In addition, Hosek is the editor of the “Basic Communication Course Annual,” and an associate editor for “Communication Education.”
Hosek has been named an Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award three times (2026, 2020, 2016) by the graduate students in the School of Communication Studies and is a Bruning Teaching Academy Fellow (2015-2016) and CTLA Teaching Faculty Fellow.
Hosek received her Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, M.A. in Communication Studies from Texas State University, and her B.A. in Communication Studies and Psychology from Texas State University – San Marcos, Texas.
