OHIO employee Benefits Open Enrollment period open through May 10

The annual Benefits Open Enrollment period for Ohio University employees will be open through Wednesday, May 10, 2023. 

Please visit My Personal Information and select Benefits Self Service to enroll. Benefit changes and elections made during this Open Enrollment period will take effect on July 1, 2023.

Open Enrollment is a good time for OHIO employees to review enrollments and life insurance beneficiaries. If you do not want to make any changes to your health, dental, vision, life, or disability insurance plans at this time, you do not need to take any action. However, if you want to participate in a Flexible Spending Account you must log in and make that selection each year. Federal regulations require employees to select flexible spending accounts each year. 

  1. Detailed plan coverage options are available on the Open Enrollment web page
  2. General overview presentations with question and answer sessions will continue to be held via Microsoft Teams meetings.
  3. Benefit Vendor Webinars are also available. 
  4. When adding new dependents, employees will need to provide documents to verify eligibility. 

More details regarding required documentation can be found on the Verification of Dependents page. Documents may be:

  1. uploaded online during the enrollment process, 
  2. uploaded to the benefits secure upload site or 
  3. submitted to the Human Resources Employee Service Center in Lindley Hall 122A by May 10. 
  4. Note: those who wish to add a dependent or beneficiary that is a current or former Ohio University employee or student OR someone who does not have a social security number should complete the Request for Benefits Office to add Dependent or Beneficiary [PDF] form. This completed form may be uploaded to the benefits secure upload site. Once processed, benefits will email confirmation and employees may access MPI: Benefits Self Service to enroll or update coverages.

Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity OHIO employees have to make changes to their benefits coverage plan options. In compliance with federal regulations, other than during the annual Open Enrollment period, employees can only change their benefits if a qualifying event occurs. Review the when can I change page for details regarding life events that allow changes to be made.
