OHIO’s student travel policy and registration process

Ohio University’s Student Travel Policy (22.001 Student Travel) is designed to manage University-affiliated student travel and support the safety of our student travelers.

This policy applies to all travel by enrolled students that is facilitated or sponsored by Ohio University, regardless of whether credit or funding is granted for activities during travel. This policy refers to travel that is beyond 100 miles of the University campus of departure, begins on one calendar day and ends on another, or entails activity in another state.

University-related activities include but are not limited to those undertaken for University credit, field research, fulfilling a degree requirement, or are supported by University funding.

While restrictions on domestic student travel have been lifted, if a student is traveling internationally, they must seek approval through the Study Away Risk Assessment Committee. After receiving the appropriate approval, students would then register their approved travel per policy 22.001.
