Resume Approval Process

The Career & Leadership Development Center wants all students and alumni to succeed in finding a job and the first step in doing so is to have a powerful resume that effectively highlights the individual's qualifications. Before a student is able to apply for positions or post their resume in the resume book on Bobcat CareerLink, their initial resume must be approved. Within two business days of uploading a resume into Bobcat CareerLink you will receive an email message placing your resume in one of the two categories:

Resume Approved - Your resume meets the minimum qualifications for use on Bobcat CareerLink. You are now eligible to search for and apply to any job or internship for which you are qualified.  Attached to this message is our Resume Checklist, which showcases “pro-level tips” to make your document even better. We encourage all students and alumni to consider meeting with a career coach during our 10-minute drop-ins or in a 30-minute coaching appointment to learn more about customizing this resume for specific applications—an essential part of submitting an effective application

Resume Not Approved - Your resume was reviewed and needs additional updates before it can be approved. Attached to this message is our Resume Checklist, which highlights the nine key elements required for your document to be approved on Bobcat CareerLink. We also recommend reviewing our Job Search Guide, which includes several resume examples and a great list of action verbs and transferable skills.

If a student is on a timeline and needs to have faster approval, please visit the Career and Leadership Development Center at 533 Baker University Center during Drop-in Hours and meet with a career coach.
