Osteopathic Heritage Foundations

The Osteopathic Heritage Foundations’ mission is to improve the health and quality of life in the community through education, research and service consistent with their osteopathic heritage. To advance this mission, since 1999, the Foundations have approved over $250 million to support community health and quality of life programs in central and southeastern Ohio and, on a regional and national level, strategies to advance osteopathic research and osteopathic medical education. In 2011, a transformational gift of $105 million to Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine enabled the college to reengineer primary care education, enhance Ohio’s community care programs and expand medical research. Funds from this award also supported construction of the new medical education facility in Athens. Heritage Hall is named in honor of the Foundations’ extraordinary generosity and its vision for transforming primary care in Ohio.

Ohio Osteopathic Association

The Ohio Osteopathic Association is the professional home for doctors of osteopathic medicine and osteopathic medical students in Ohio. Founded in 1898, the OOA works to promote the distinct philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine in Ohio – whether that be through legislative and public policy advocacy, embracing new technology that strengthens DO practices, or through public awareness. The OOA is committed to the training of future osteopathic physicians, and student government leaders serve on their board of directors. They also provide the white coats given to incoming first-year Heritage College students. The OOA has memorialized their commitment to osteopathic medical students by naming the Student Government Association office in Heritage Hall.
