Ohio University's Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) lab is the nation's first university-based research center for automatic identification. Founded in 1988, it is devoted to the study of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC). AIDC includes the technologies of radio frequency identification, bar coding, magnetic stripe, biometrics, smart cards and voice data entry.
