Recognizing Women Leaders

Here at the Women's Center, we love to celebrate accomplishments. From our programs like "Stay Out of Your Own Way" and the AAUW Start Smart Salary Negotiation workshop, to our "Role Model and Accomplishment Board" (feel free to pop by and add a photo of your role model to our collection), we believe that recognizing our skills, talents, hard-work and accomplishments can be revolutionary. On this page, you'll find the links to awards and recognition opportunities for those working on gender issues and female students, faculty and staff.

Leadership Awards Gala

The Women’s Issues Leadership Award is offered annually at the Leadership Awards Gala through the Division of Student Affairs. The recipient is chosen through a committee created by the Women’s Center and recognizes a student or student organization that has shown outstanding leadership and/or community involvement on women’s and gender issues, or has raised consciousness about those issues.

In order to be considered for the award, the nominee must:

  • be a full-time OHIO student, at a junior or senior level standing.
  • demonstrate a commitment to creating a campus climate in which all women and girls can be full and equal participants at OHIO or in the larger society.
  • be a proponent of gender equity.
  • be a “student leader,” which is broadly defined to include someone who has an elected role in a student organization or more generally mobilizes others to act.

Celebrating Women: On & Off the Court

The Women's Center, Bobcat Athletics, and the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program invite you to join us for our 8th annual celebration of OHIO Women Leaders. Past celebrations have included over 200 women leaders across campus!

Women's Achievement Dinner

Please join the Women's Center and our partners annually in honoring and celebrating the achievements of women at Ohio University. This Appreciation Dinner is an opportunity for us to highlight the successes of women in a variety of roles, and to lift up those doing work in areas that may go unrecognized as "women's work" or more feminized labor. These awards are meant to honor women on campus, broadly defined.
