Six Ohio University students have been selected as recipients for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and will spend eight to 12 months working to promote international education and cultural exchange in host countries across Asia, Europe and South America.

OHIO students place in 2019 Ethics in Action National Student Video Competition
Ohio University students Anthony Bartolomucci, Chloe Green, Sydney Hutchinson, Daniel Mendenhall, Kurt Mohr, Emily Rodic, Alexandria Skowronski and Jessica Woods were recently awarded runner-up in the Viewer’s Choice Short Film Category for their video, “Ethics in the Small Things,” as part of the 10th annualEthics in Action Video Competition put on by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy Center for the Public Trust (CPT).

New Ohio University study profiles the changing face of suicide within the state
Where does suicide live in Ohio? How old is it? What does it look like? According to a new study released by The Ohio Alliance for Innovation in Population Health (The Alliance), its identity is increasingly comprised of individuals both young and old, with suicide rates rising more than 36 percent for those ages 20 to 29 and approximately 57 percent for those aged 60 or older in the last 10 years.

Ohio University Men’s Ice Hockey announces Cole Bell as the new head coach for the 2019 season. Bell takes over for Sean Hogan as the 14th head coach in program history.

Two OHIO students selected as Barry M. Goldwater Scholars
Two Ohio University students have been selected as 2019 Barry M. Goldwater Scholars. Junior Mahmoud Ramadan and sophomore Edward Drabold were both recognized for their research on carbon capture. The Goldwater Scholarship is considered the most prestigious national award for undergraduate STEM research.

OHIO Sustainability Award Winners Announced
As part of the annual Earth Day Celebrations, Ohio University’s Office of Sustainability announced the 2019 Sustainability Award winners during a lunch prepared and served by Professor Thom Stevenson and his students in the Restaurant, Hotel and Tourism Program in the Department of Human and Consumer Sciences. The students were trained on the meal preparation by Dr. Usha Matta.

Ohio University’s Marching 110 has selected rising senior Sophia Medvid of Charlotte, North Carolina as its first female field commander to lead the marching band to be “better than the best ever.”
