Handshake Faculty & Staff
What is Handshake?
Handshake is Ohio University’s online career platform to connect students and alumni to available resources. OHIO Bobcats can use Handshake to schedule one-on-one appointments with career coaches, apply for jobs & internships, find career events on campus and network with employers. Students can access their account by using their OHIO ID and password.
If you have a disability and rely on a screen reader or the keyboard for access to your computer, you will experience difficulty using the Handshake application. As the University works with Handshake to improve accessibility, please contact career@ohio.edu for assistance in navigating and using this application. A member of our team will connect with you.
Why should faculty & staff use a Handshake account?
Faculty & staff are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Handshake platform to assist students with finding career resources. Creating an account will allow you to see the platform in the same view as students. Reminding students of events, services and opportunities can reinforce their professional development. Employers sign up for career fairs directly on Handshake, which will allow you to see a curated list of who will be on campus.
As a student-focused platform, Handshake does not currently have a “faculty/staff” option when creating an account. It may be helpful to keep in mind which students you interact with the most when creating an account, so your account is tailored to help them.
How to create and account
- On the Handshake main page, select the Sign-Up function.
- Sign-On using your OHIO email to continue to the Ohio Single-Sign On.
- There is no faculty/staff option; to continue creating an account select “I'm a Student or Alumni.”
- Complete the account creation process.
- Once completed, a member of the Career Services team will be notified to approve your account.
