MIS Opening Night Party with Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast
The Opening Night Party will provide an opportunity for Ohio University Music Industry Summit conference registrants and guests & community to connect and network. Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast will be performing a DJ set. Doors for the evening event open at 7:30PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
ABOUT MICHELLE ZAUNER:
As Japanese Breakfast’s singer and guitarist, she creates dreamy, shoegaze-inspired indie pop and has won acclaim from major music outlets around the world for releases like Psychopomp (2016) and Soft Sounds from Another Planet (2017). Her most recent album, Jubilee (2021), earned two GRAMMY
nominations for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album. Her first book, Crying in H Mart, an unflinching, powerful memoir about growing up Korean-American, losing her mother, and forging her own identity, is a New York Times Best Seller. She’s currently adapting the memoir for the screen for MGM’s Orion Pictures.

Started in 2018, the Ohio University Music Industry Summit is an exclusive event focused on the stories of artists, entrepreneurs, leaders, and change agents as they engage the music industry from a regional, national, and global approach. The Summit is a confluence of students, artists, industry executives, educators, and entrepreneurs in a collaborative and educational series of interviews, panels, conversations, and performances. Attendees learn about this industry from unique perspectives brought to life with stories, practical experiences, and dialogue on present challenges and opportunities. Hosted by the Ohio University Center for Entrepreneurship, Scripps College of Communication, and the University’s Performing Arts and Concert Series, in partnership with Nashville-based experiential marketing company Red Story.
