CIBED strengthens global network with presence on six continents
Ohio University’s Center for International Business Education and Development (CIBED) is proud to announce its official return to South America through a new partnership with Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This milestone reestablishes CIBED’s presence on six continents, plus Central America, and represents a significant step forward in the center’s ongoing commitment to expanding global opportunities for Ohio University students.
The partnership emerged from a strategic visit to Buenos Aires in November 2025 by Stephanie Sharp, director of operations and student development for CIBED, and Adam Hepworth, director of the Global Consulting Program (GCP), who attended the CIEE Study Abroad Conference and explored opportunities to strengthen CIBED’s international network.
During their visit, Sharp and Hepworth met with academic leaders, toured university campuses and evaluated educational opportunities throughout the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Among the most impactful engagements was a series of meetings with representatives from Universidad de San Andrés, a highly regarded institution known for its academic excellence, innovative programming and commitment to international collaboration.
The visit also provided an immersive look at Argentina’s cultural and educational landscape. Through site visits across Buenos Aires, including the vibrant neighborhoods of La Boca and Recoleta, the CIBED team gained firsthand insight into the academic environment, cultural experiences and professional opportunities available to future GCP participants.
“What stood out most during our time in Buenos Aires was the incredible combination of academic rigor, rich culture and professional opportunities available to students,” said Sharp. “Through this partnership, our students will engage with a dynamic global city while building the intercultural skills, confidence and experiences that are essential for success in today’s workforce.”
Hepworth, who is also the associate director of CIBED, emphasized the value of the new location for experiential learning.
“Argentina offers students a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic international business environment while engaging directly with local organizations and communities,” Hepworth said. “Through hands-on consulting projects and meaningful cultural immersion, students will develop the global perspective, adaptability and professional skills that employers increasingly seek in today’s interconnected economy.”
CIBED Executive Director Dr. Andrew Pueschel views this partnership as an important step in advancing the center’s global strategy.
“This new partnership is the culmination of significant relationship-building and strategic engagement efforts. GCP operated in Brazil from 2019 to 2022, and reestablishing a presence in South America marks an important step in CIBED’s continued commitment to building a truly global network of educational partnerships,” Pueschel said.
As CIBED continues to expand its partnerships around the world, the addition of Universidad de San Andrés strengthens its ability to provide high-impact international experiences that empower students to learn, grow and lead on a global scale.
Applications for the Summer 2027 Global Consulting Program in Argentina will be open from Sept. 8-27, 2026. All Ohio University undergraduate students are welcome to apply.
