OHIO faculty invited to CTLA Fall Kickoff event on Sept. 4

All Ohio University faculty are invited to join the Center for Teaching, Learning and Assessment (CTLA) for its annual Fall Kickoff event to explore practical, research-based strategies for teaching in today’s evolving learning landscape.

The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 4, in Baker Center, Room 240/242. 

The workshop will look at questions such as "How do we teach effectively when technology is everywhere—and students’ attention is anything but constant?"

This year’s keynote and workshop will be led by Dr. Michelle D. Miller, professor of psychological sciences at Northern Arizona University. An internationally recognized expert on attention, memory, technology and college teaching, Miller brings both scientific insight and real classroom experience to her work.

Miller is the author of “Remembering and Forgetting in the Age of Technology,” “Minds Online,” and “A Teacher's Guide to Learning Student Names.” She currently serves as the executive director of NAU’s Institute for Advancing Applications in Artificial Intelligence.

The keynote presentation will be streamed via Teams for regional colleagues.

In addition, a lunchtime panel discussion will provide updates on Ohio University’s response to the Advance Ohio Higher Education Act.
