Ohio University Printing announces retirement of long-time director Blaine Gabriel

After nearly 30 years as a leader at Ohio University Printing, Blaine Gabriel will retire from his role as director at the end of July.

During Gabriel’s tenure, Ohio University Printing has grown to become one of the Top 50 university printing facilities in the nation as ranked by the industry publication In-plant Impressions.

Gabriel has served as director of OHIO Printing since March of 2009. Prior to being named director, he served as assistant director from 1998 to 2008, then as interim director. Gabriel joined the University after spending his early career years in commercial printing. In all, he retires with more than 40 years in the printing services industry.

“Blaine brings a level of dedication and commitment to his work that is rare to find in any industry,” said Robin Oliver, vice president of Ohio University Communications and Marketing. “He is the kind of leader who you can call with any problem, and he won’t stop until he finds a solution. We will miss his deep knowledge of printing but most of all his uncanny ability to move mountains if it means helping a University department, student or community member.”

In addition to his 28 years of service at OHIO Printing, Gabriel has long served as a head coach for high school basketball teams in the region, most recently leading the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes.

OHIO Printing invites those who have worked with Gabriel through the years to join the team for a barbecue lunch in his honor on  Wednesday, July 15, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ohio University Printing, Ridges Building 37.
