Office of Student Success and Academic Innovation names Kasey Daniel executive director for University Advising
Ohio University’s Office of Student Success and Academic Innovation has named Kasey Daniel as the next executive director for University Advising, following the departure of Ashley Beatty-Smith and the successful completion of an internal search process. The office extends its gratitude to Beatty-Smith for her leadership and service to University Advising and wishes her continued success in her next chapter.
In this role, Daniel will provide strategic leadership for University Advising and work closely with academic colleges, student success teams and campus partners to strengthen advising practices that support student persistence, completion and success. The executive director will play a key role in advancing a coordinated, student-centered advising model that helps students navigate academic requirements, connect with resources and build clear pathways to graduation.
Daniel previously served as director of Academic Advocacy and Case Management in the Allen Center, where she supported students facing complex academic and personal challenges and worked collaboratively with colleagues across the University to improve systems and processes that advance student success.
“Kasey brings deep advising expertise, a strong commitment to students, and a collaborative approach to this important leadership role,” said Sarah Poggione, vice provost for academic affairs. “Her experience supporting students, working across units and improving student success processes will be invaluable as we continue strengthening University Advising and its role in helping students make timely progress toward their goals.”
Daniel is a two-time graduate of Ohio University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in college student personnel. She has more than a decade of experience in higher education, including academic advising, student success, new student programs and accessibility services. Prior to returning to OHIO, she held positions at Columbus College of Art and Design and the University of California, Davis.
The Office of Student Success and Academic Innovation extends its appreciation to the search committee and to the faculty, staff, and campus partners who participated in the selection process. Their time, feedback and thoughtful engagement helped identify a strong internal leader for this important role.
