Moving campus forward
The month of May is recognized as National Moving Month and Ohio University is proud to highlight the dedicated professionals whose work behind the scenes helps campus operations run seamlessly.
The Ohio University Moving and Surplus team supports the changing needs of the OHIO community through support of departmental relocations, building transitions, event rentals and the operation of an on-campus surplus store.
Whether coordinating a single office move, assisting with large-scale building conversions, or delivering tables and chairs for campus events, the Moving Services team provides dependable, customer-focused support that departments across campus rely upon year-round. The work of the team helps move forward University projects, renovations, student housing transitions and major campus event needs.
Campus departments can conveniently schedule moving requests and related services through the University’s online service request platform, making it easy to coordinate logistics, request event rentals and access moving support services. Information about available services, rental options and surplus operations can also be found on the Moving and Surplus website.
Ohio University's Surplus Store
In addition to moving support, the team operates Ohio University’s Surplus Store. The store is open to the public on Tuesdays-Thursdays from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. and is located at 120 Ridges Circle (Building 9).
The Surplus Store offers an opportunity for the campus and local community to discover unique treasures. From office furniture, electronics and apparel to unexpected finds, the Surplus Store helps extend the lifecycle of University assets, reduce waste and promote environmentally responsible practices.
Serving the OHIO community
Campus partner Duane Perpich shared the following about his experience working with the department.
“I schedule several moves each year with Ohio University’s Moving and Surplus Department. These moves range from small one-piece items to complete residence hall furniture removal and delivery. Their three full-time movers always interact courteously and professionally with both students and staff and continually work fast and efficient,” Perpich said. “They always take great care of our product while handling and moving it. Management does a fantastic job of communicating, scheduling and meeting any deadlines we have.”
