Students, faculty, staff invited to participate in internet safety training
Internet scams are a threat for people all across the country, including for Ohio University students, faculty and staff.
In order to help combat the threat at OHIO, the Information Security Office and the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance have created a resource to help students, faculty and staff stay safe online.
Your University credentials—your username and password—provide access to valuable University systems, data and personal employee information, such as direct deposit details and employee benefits information. Bad actors want access to this valuable information and may attempt to trick you into providing your credentials to them via social engineering attacks. Malicious email messages targeting University employees is a common way that bad actors attempt to gain access to sensitive systems and information.
Ohio University launched this digital microlearning resource earlier this academic year to help students, faculty and staff identify and avoid email phishing scams. This short training in Canvas provides members of the OHIO community tools and resources useful in keeping their finances, private data and crucial University systems safe.
