Ohio University places policies up for community review

The Ohio University Executive Staff Policy Committee (ESPC) has placed several policies up for community review.

Policies moved to 30-day review period for community feedback

  • 55.030: Purchasing – The purchasing department is committed to the efficient and economical acquisition of quality external goods and services in support of Ohio University's overall mission. 
  • Draft Policy 49.001: Outside Activities, Conflicts of Interest and Conflicts of Commitment Compliance – The purpose of this policy is to establish a University framework, standards and expectations for identifying, disclosing, reviewing and managing conflicts of interest and conflicts of commitment. This policy supports compliance with Ohio Ethics Law, applicable federal law and other relevant state regulations. Standard operating procedures supporting this policy are maintained by responsible administrative units.
  • Draft Policy 01.025: Use of University Facilities – This purpose of this policy is to establish a space governance structure to bring clarity, consistency and practical application to the management of University space, so that space is allocated and used in a manner that meets University strategic needs.

Policies moved to 30-day review period before they are rescinded

  • 19.058: Conflict of Interest in Sponsored Programs – This policy content will be incorporated into policy 49.001. The policy sets forth procedures designed to safeguard the integrity of University research and creative activities and to avoid even the appearance of bias or impropriety resulting from the significant financial interests, as defined within this policy, of University researchers.
  • 17.900: Consulting – The relevant content of this policy will be incorporated into policy 49.001. The purpose of this policy is to describe the circumstances under which University employees and students should formalize consulting relationships with outside agencies or companies.
  • 03.002: Distribution of Ethics Bill 1 – The relevant content of this policy will be incorporated into policy 49.001. The purpose of this policy is to outline the general procedures for the implementation of section 102.09 of the Ethics Bill requiring all new employees to be given a copy of Chapter 102 and 2921 of the Ohio Revised Code.
