New course: OHIO DAN 7 Core Digital Accessibility Skills
Clear, accessible digital content helps more people participate fully. That’s why the OHIO Digital Accessibility Network (OHIO DAN) is offering a new learning opportunity focused on building practical, everyday digital accessibility skills.
The OHIO DAN 7 Core Digital Accessibility Skills course is now available and open to everyone at OHIO. Whether you create documents, build content in Canvas, design webpages or support digital tools behind the scenes, this course provides a strong foundation for making your work more inclusive. The full course takes approximately an hour and a half to complete in one sitting, but you can take modules independently as they fit into your schedule.
Why this matters now
Students and colleagues across OHIO interact with digital content in many different ways. They may be:
- using screen readers
- watching videos with captions
- reading on mobile devices
- navigating with a keyboard
- processing information in different ways
Designing with accessibility in mind supports all of these users—and it’s an important responsibility of public universities. Accessible design also aligns with accessibility standards that institutions like OHIO are expected to meet.
A practical, habits-based approach
Accessibility progress doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. The fastest way to make meaningful improvements is to focus on the practical habits you control every day. This course introduces the seven core digital accessibility skills that form the foundation of accessible content, no matter your role or technical background.
Participants will gain awareness, confidence, and actionable strategies they can immediately apply to their own work.
Who should participate?
