International Student Support Task Force asks for input from OHIO community
The Ohio University International Student Support Task Force is studying how OHIO supports its students from around the globe and is looking for input from the campus community.
The task force is assessing the systems that support international students in their transition to life at OHIO and is charged with submitting its initial findings and recommendations by March 1, 2026.
Convened by the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of the Provost, the task force is currently focusing on these main topics:
- Transportation – Reviewing current transportation options for OHIO students traveling between Athens and Columbus, in particular the airport. The group is also gathering information on barriers to transportation and potential solutions.
- Food Access –Evaluating the availability of food resources and will be recommending strategies to increase awareness and access.
- Employment – Studying on-campus job opportunities available to international students, as well as access to job opportunities.
- Housing – Assessing current housing options and preferences among international students, while also identifying barriers to housing and potential solutions.
The survey will be open until Feb. 16. While the focus of the group is international students, who face unique barriers due to their immigration status, recommendations brought forward will benefit all OHIO students.
The members of the Ohio University International Student Support Task Force include:
- Kassandra Aleksiejczyk, Office of the Dean of Students
- Abby Conder Lussier, International Student and Scholar Services
