OHIO employees donate to VPFA food drive to support Cats’ Cupboard

Ohio University employees came together in December to make a meaningful impact through a Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA) food drive.

The food drive collected more than 200 pounds of food to help support the Cats’ Cupboard, the University’s on-campus food pantry located in Baker University Center.

The drive saw strong participation from teams across the VPFA area, including Transportation and Parking Services, Airport Operations, Real Estate, Space Planning and the OHIO Business Service Center. Their collective efforts helped ensure that students facing food insecurity have access to nutritious options as the spring semester begins.

The Cats’ Cupboard serves Ohio University students by providing free groceries, personal care items, and household essentials in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. The pantry is open to any enrolled student and plays a critical role in supporting student well-being, retention and academic success by addressing basic needs that can otherwise become barriers to learning.

“Food insecurity is an issue that often goes unseen, even on college campuses,” said Heather Krugman, executive director of the OHIO Business Service Center. “I’m incredibly proud of our VPFA teams for stepping up during the busy holiday season to support Cats’ Cupboard. This is a great example of how our VPFA employees live OHIO’s values by caring for our students and community.”

The VPFA food drive reflects Ohio University’s ongoing commitment to compassion, service and shared responsibility. Organizers expressed appreciation to all employees who contributed donations and helped make the initiative a success, noting that even small acts of generosity can have a significant collective impact.
