Lecture Capture decision supports savings, stability

The 2025 Lecture Capture Tool Evaluation Project has concluded with the selection of Panopto as Ohio University’s continued lecture capture partner.

This recommendation was made by Ohio University faculty, staff and students who served on the review committee. 

This review also considered VoiceThread, a student engagement platform with overlapping functionality. Based on the committee’s recommendations, VoiceThread will be retired at the end of its contract in June 2026 due to rising costs and its redundancy with other supported technologies. 

The decision supports the Dynamic Strategy’s Learn Pillar by investing in technology that strengthens teaching, improves student outcomes and promotes instructional excellence.

Faculty who use VoiceThread or are seeking tools to support online engagement and instruction are encouraged to book a consultation with the Office of Information Technology’s Instructional Technologists.
