Register now for Global Research Challenge, nominate faculty or staff for Global Engagement Awards

Ohio University students, faculty and staff are invited to take part in several special events during International Education Week (IEW).

This year’s IEW will be held Nov. 18-22, 2024, and members of the OHIO community are invited to register or submit nominations soon for events such as the Global Research Symposium and the Global Engagement Awards event.

IEW is held each year in November to highlight the University’s excellence in global education through teaching, research and experiential learning.

Global Research Challenge

The Global Research Challenge: Present your Research in Minutes competition invites students of all academic levels to present their internationally focused research or creative activity.

The event offers OHIO students of all levels a chance to share their research and creative activity with global impact in a presentation format which effectively and concisely shares their project of research.

The competition is open to all Ohio University students who are enrolled during the fall semester. Registration is due by Nov. 1, 2024. 

Students will present their research on Friday, Nov. 22.

Organizers of the Global Research Challenge are seeking faculty and staff who would like to serve as judges at the event. If you are interested in serving a judge, contact the Office of Global Affairs at globalaffairs@ohio.edu.

Global Engagement Awards

The Awards for Excellence in Global Engagement celebrate the exceptional efforts of Ohio University faculty and staff in advancing the institution's commitment to global learning, research and community-building.

Each year, Ohio University presents honors in the categories of Global Learning, Global Discovery, Global Engagement and Global Community.  The awards are presented at the Global Engagement Awards event during IEW. This year’s event will be held on Nov. 18.

Nominees for all awards must be current, full- or part-time faculty (tenure-track or instructional) or current, full- or part-time staff (either classified or administrators) at Ohio University,

Nominations are due on Oct. 27, 2024

Additional IEW activities

Ohio University will host a series of events for all members of the Ohio University community during IEW. These events will include:

• 60th Anniversary: Celebrating the Center for International Studies – OHIO’s Center for International Studies will be celebrating its anniversary with events on Nov. 15 – 18. You can read more about the anniversary events here.
• International Dinner - This celebration of diverse cultures and dishes each year offers a unique opportunity for the Ohio University community to explore the wonderful flavors, spices and traditional recipes from across continents. This year’s International Dinner will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16. You can read more about the International Dinner or purchase tickets here.
