The 2024 International Street Fair/International Week to celebrate “Connecting Hearts Across Borders” in April

The International Student Union (ISU) is delighted to present International Week (I Week) from April 1-7, 2024, featuring many familiar favorite events, including the International Street Fair and the I Week World Cup soccer tournament, as well as new additions such as an eSports FIFA World Cup. 

"International Student Union is the umbrella organization for over 10 student organizations at Ohio University," ISU President Tigistu Beyene said. "As we organize this year's International Week under the theme 'Connecting Hearts Across Borders,' our goal is to promote cultural exchanges between the Ohio University and Athens communities, as well as to enhance international students' experiences. We at ISU are thrilled to host the beloved Street Fair and all of the other exciting events that highlight both OHIO's international students and all of the wonderful ways we all contribute to the vibrant and global identity of the Appalachian community."

All Week – April 1-6, 2024

• eSports FIFA World Cup Tournament: Details Forthcoming

ISU is collaborating with Scripps eSports to present a Global FIFA World Cup Tournament which is happening concurrently with the exciting I Week festivities. Open to all, play to represent your own or your favorite countries. Registration to participate will be shared on the I Week website. 

Monday - April 1, 2024

• International Flags on College Green: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., College Green
• International Snacks, Coffee, and Tea: starting after flags are set up until 11 a.m. or when snacks run out.

Enjoy the vibrant display of international flags set up on the College Green. Following the installation, ISU will serve refreshments, including snacks, coffee, and tea for those who visit to enjoy. Please share your photos using the hashtag #OHIOIWEEK24

Tuesday - April 2, 2024

• International Ice Cream Social:  noon – 1:30 p.m., Baker University Center, Third Floor Atrium

Join ISU to explore and enjoy international ice cream! This event presents a wonderful opportunity for students, faculty, and staff members to indulge in a wide variety of global ice cream types and flavors and socialize with one another.

Wednesday - April 3, 2024

• International Tea Tasting and Painting: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., Baker University Center 240/242

Explore international teas and get creative- ISU will provide a variety of teas from around the world and tools to paint or draw (or join us to converse and/or play games). This fun event is a great way to relax and meet old and new friends.

• MTINDO: 7 p.m., Baker Theater

ISU will partner with the Global Arts Festival to participate in their international fashion show celebrating global inclusion and diversity, "MTINDO." We encourage you to attend or even showcase your beautiful traditional fashion for all to see.

Thursday - April 4, 2024

• World Languages Showcase: 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Baker Center Front Room

Coordinated as part of the Global Arts Festival by the Center for International Studies and Office of Global Affairs, experience a diversity of language and culture through vibrant presentations and performances featuring OHIO's students and featuring world languages both taught at OHIO and languages spoken by Global Bobcats. Dane, Music, Poetry, Storytelling, and Connection!

Friday - April 5, 2024

• 12^th World Music and Dance Concert:  7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m., Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium

The College of Fine Arts at Ohio University is pleased to present the 12th World Music and Dance Concert, part of the 4th Global Arts Festival, celebrating Diversity, Global Arts, and International Education at Ohio University.

Saturday - April 6, 2024

• Flag Parade: 10:30 a.m. (Starting at Baker 4th Floor and walking toward Howard Park)
• International Street Fair: 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Howard Hall Park

The International Street Fair is always a highlight of International Week. Please join us by volunteering (see our get involved page) or just come and hangout and enjoy the day! We look forward to seeing you enjoying the flags on the green, carrying an international flag during the parade, engaging with our vendors, or being entertained by the talent on our stage. Sunday - April 7, 2024

• I Week World Cup Soccer Tournament: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Walter Fieldhouse

Join ISU and other students to participate in or cheer on teams during our World Cup Soccer Tournament. This program was a long time favorite for I Week and we are thrilled to bring it back. Please check back for information on how to sign up for this fun event!

ISU extends an invitation to all members of the OHIO community, International Student Organizations, and the community at large to participate in I Week and the Street Fair.
