An update on the search for OHIO’s 23rd President

Presidential Search Committee and Board of Trustees Chair Peggy Viehweger shared the following message with the University community on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023.
 

Dear OHIO community,

Last September, our Board of Trustees brought together a group of diverse individuals from across the University community for a singular purpose – to guide the search for Ohio University’s 23rd president and help chart a course for Ohio University that will move us forever forward.

Today, we are elated to share that our Presidential Search Committee has identified three experienced, highly qualified presidential candidate finalists, each of whom will soon visit our Athens campus and engage in a wide range of settings with our students, faculty, staff, alumni, University leadership and others across the OHIO community:

Dr. Susana Rivera-Mills
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Ball State University

Dr. Avinandan “Avi” Mukherjee
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Marshall University

Dr. Lori Stewart Gonzalez
Executive Vice President and Provost, University of Louisville

Join us for presidential candidate finalist open forums

OHIO students, faculty, staff and alumni, along with members of our community, are cordially invited to participate in presidential candidate finalist open forums in the next two weeks.

A member of OHIO’s Faculty Senate will moderate each forum, and a livestream of every session will be available for those with an OHIO ID who wish to participate remotely.

Presidential Candidate Finalist Open Forum with Dr. Susana Rivera-Mills
Date: Wednesday, March 1 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Baker University Center Theater

Presidential Candidate Finalist Open Forum with Dr. Avinandan Mukherjee
Date: Tuesday, March 7 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Baker University Center Theater

Presidential Candidate Finalist Open Forum with Dr. Lori Stewart Gonzalez
Date: Wednesday, March 8 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Baker University Center Theater

At the conclusion of each forum, the University community will be encouraged to share their thoughts via an anonymous online survey, which will be available on the Presidential Search web page. Your continued engagement and feedback will remain critical to the Board of Trustees as they evaluate each of the finalists during the decision-making process.

Moving OHIO forever forward

It has been my honor to serve OHIO in this search and to work with an excellent, well-represented search committee. The search has been intense, and every member of the committee has been fully engaged. I believe we have incorporated the information collected from the community and lived up to finding candidates who match our criteria. I’m very happy to have had access to so many voices in the community, people who care so deeply about our university and its future.

Together, we will help OHIO find a visionary leader who can leverage the momentum of today to propel our University into tomorrow and help us remain anchored in our promise to students that their OHIO experience will influence their success, forever.
