Update that resume – Spring Career and Internship Fair set for Feb. 22

Whether you’re seeking a new job or you’re just beginning to make plans for your future career, be sure to circle Wednesday, Feb. 22, on your calendar. That’s when nearly 100 companies will visit the Charles J. Ping Recreation Center for the 2023 Spring Career and Internship Fair.

At the Career and Internship Fair, employers representing a diverse array of industries from across the country will be on hand to recruit OHIO students and alumni.

Those attending the fair will be able to connect with recruiters, explore industries and practice networking skills – all while seeking an internship or job. Students and alumni are invited to stop in at the fair any time their schedule allows, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. No pre-registration is needed in order to attend.

“Career fairs are great ways to find full-time roles after graduation, as well as summer internships,” said Holly Seckinger, associate director of industry and employer engagement, Career Network. “Most of these companies come back year after year, so even if you are a freshman, it’s a great way to get to know recruiters and companies. We’ve had them tell us that they remember when students introduce themselves as freshmen and then come back for internships in the following years.”

Here are just a few of the companies and organizations that will be at the Spring Career and Internship Fair on Feb. 22:

The fair currently boasts 90 registered companies for the event, and may add others. 

“The cool thing about the fair is that there seems to be something for every single student across campus, regardless of major or year,” said Seckinger. “There are financial services represented, engineering, manufacturing, technology, government, non-profit, healthcare, education, retail and marketing, just to name a few! I would recommend that students view the full list on Handshake as well as roles the companies are hiring for – full time or internships. We’ll have the room divided by industry to make it easy on students to find just what they are interested in.”

If you’ve never attended an in-person career fair, here's what to expect: Each company will have a table set up in the Ping Recreation Center. You’ll be able to move from table to table to learn more about the companies from their representatives, including open job/internship positions and possible career paths. 

Two additional Career Fair tips:

• Ideally, it’s a good idea to bring copies of your resume with you – even in this digital age, a hard-copy resume can still grab a recruiter’s attention.
• It never hurts to “dress for success” – in fact, students can stop by the Career Closet on the second floor of McGuffey Hall, Monday through Friday, to check out the professional clothing options that are available. No reservation is necessary, and you get to keep the clothes.
