Keeping Bobcats Informed, Nov. 30, 2022

Bobcat Parents & Families,

As the semester comes to a close and academic deadlines creep closer, please ensure your student is staying healthy and remembering the basics – food, rest, exercise, and balance. Check in with your student and encourage them to reach out for support if stress or any other physical or emotional distress is interfering with their ability to do academic work or interact productively with others.

This is a good time for them to hear support from those who know how hard they are working, which is why we launch our Leadership Awards nominations this time of year. If you know of a student who has demonstrated leadership this year, please submit a nomination for them. Not only will they appreciate your words of praise, but it will put them in the running to be recognized by OHIO this spring.

Be well,

Kathy

Finals: Tools to Succeed

Not to bum you out, but finals week starts in five days. Let's talk about how you can avoid procrastination and know you gave it your all.

Connect with a tutor

Stop by the Academic Achievement Center. Programs include peer tutoring in over 200 subjects, writing assistance, study skill development, and more.

Fuel yourself

Brain food is real; take care of your body so your mind can work. You can order and pick up food and drinks at all campus dining venues through OHIO Eats.

Find your spot

Use the study space locator to plan out the spots to hit up throughout the week. Get a breakdown of these locations and the rooms available.

Play a little

Take a study break to reboot and head to Alden Library's second floor tonight and Dec. 6 to visit with dogs from Athens County Pet PALs.

Take Care

Give time to your well-being

College can be overwhelming. Especially as the semester ends and academic deadlines creep closer. Don't let your well-being take a back seat. Prioritize yourself and attend well-being events on campus.

Ensure your needs are met

You can't succeed when facing food insecurity — period. At OHIO, we don't want any student to go without help. If you're struggling, consider benefits you may be eligible for or access the University's conveniently located food pantry.

Celebrate the winter season

When you're ready to step away from studying and rejuvenate your mind, consider the fun available around campus.

Are you the crafty type? Learn how to reuse recycled objects by making sustainable gifts for the people you love.
