Dating Violence
Five signs your friend may be in trouble
Isolation
You observe persistent demands about how and with whom your friend spends their time, often coupled with jealousy or guilting.
Control
You sense your friend feeling pressured to act, speak, or look a certain way. They may communicate fear that being out of touch with their partner will upset them.
Physicality
You see your friend's partner use their body to assert themselves or deal with confrontation. They may also ignore or violate physical boundaries.
Coercion
Your friend acts nervous, withdrawn, or out of character, and shows fear or defensiveness when confronted about the changes.
Criticism
The belittlement of beliefs and feelings, and other forms of emotional and psychological abuse can be early indicators that the harm will become physical.
Consider a gift to OHIO's Survivor Advocacy Program's Survivor Emergency Fund in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This fund provides support to mitigate some of the financial barriers survivors face due to trauma and victimization, such as medical bills, housing assistance, academic support, safety measures, and more.

Feed hungry Bobcats
Participate in Pack the Pantry and drop off food today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Athens Food Pantry and Cats' Cupboard. Donations can be dropped off on South, East, and West Greens, on the lawn of the Konneker Alumni Center, and in Baker Center on the second floor.
Most needed items: Canned proteins, pasta/pasta sauce, nuts, crackers, and dried fruit
FAFSA deadline
The 2023-24 FAFSA opened on Oct. 1. Each year, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by filing online. The FAFSA serves as the application for all federal, state, and institutional financial aid at Ohio University. FAFSA results should be received by Jan. 15, 2023, to meet the first-priority consideration date. Recipients of the OHIO Admission Promise Award must complete the FAFSA annually by Jan. 15 and have at least a 3.00 GPA to renew the award. What's Your Green Dot?
Imagine a map of OHIO's campus covered in red and green dots. Each red dot represents an act of violence in our community. Every time someone uses their words to harass someone else, engages in a nonconsensual relationship, or stalks another person, a new red dot appears on our map. You can stop the red dots by creating green dots. A green dot is any choice, behavior, word, or attitude that promotes safety for everyone and makes our community safer.
Mold and mildew prevention
When it comes to mold and mildew, prevention is key. The CDC states that molds are found in virtually every environment and can thrive in warm, humid places. If there are concerns about mold in any campus buildings, including residence halls, we want to remediate the situation. Contact Facilities Management and Safety at 740-593-2911. They’re available 24/7 and can quickly respond to your needs the same day (and no later than 24 hours). Read tips for moisture control and preventing mold.
Paw Print Park Grand Opening
Housing and Residence Life will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the new hammock and engagement space on South Green. Come out on Oct. 7 from 2 to 5 p.m. for games, treats, music, and giveaways!
Alcohol and sexual assault prevention education
All first- and third-year students are required to complete these online modules by Oct. 26. Students received a direct link in their inbox. These modules are mandatory; complete them to avoid a hold on your student account. If you need accessibility accommodations to complete the online education modules, email klatt@ohio.edu.
