Scripps College of Communication to offer new online Master of Communication degree

Applications are now open for the new, fully online Master of Communication degree from Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication. Designed for working professionals who want to expand their communication skills and advance in their chosen profession, the 30-credit hour program can be completed in as few as four semesters and customized based on a student’s interests and professional goals.

To build toward the Master of Communication, students choose from the college’s suite of graduate certificates, earning microcredentials in related areas. In addition to earning two certificates as part of the degree, students complete an introductory course and a capstone course.

“We know that graduate credentials have a tremendous impact on an individual’s career prospects,” Scripps College of Communication Dean Scott Titsworth said. “This degree maximizes that impact by allowing students to customize their curriculum as they choose the certificates that are the best fit for them individually.”

There are currently six graduate certificates available from the college:

  • Crisis communication
  • Digital media transformation and innovation
  • Strategic communication management
  • Interacting with the media for non-journalists
  • Interacting with the media for STEM professionals
  • Communication diversity, ethics, and inclusivity

Classes are taught in seven-week increments, with entry terms starting throughout the year. No GRE is required for admission to the program and personal assistance is available to guide prospective students through the process of applying.

The Scripps College of Communication has been at the forefront of communication education for more than 50 years. With a continued commitment to innovation, emerging technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration, Scripps prepares students for success in the ever-changing communication field.
