Sustainable Administration Hub Seminar will highlight procurement initiatives

Ohio University’s Sustainable Administration Hub Coordinator, Dr. Ryan Fogt, will lead the third and final fall semester Sustainability Hub Seminar on Monday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. The seminar will be available live on Microsoft Teams. 

Fogt has partnered with Rusty Thomas, purchasing manager at Ohio University’s Department of Procurement and Contract Services, to discuss sustainability initiatives in OHIO Procurement, a theme of the Sustainable Administration Hub.

Procurement is an important part of sustainability. Ohio University’s purchasing decisions determine which businesses are financially supported by university budget resources. Ideally, those purchasing decisions will simultaneously benefit our people, our planet, and the economic prosperity of our region. 

What is OHIO doing to support sustainable procurement decisions? How does the OHIO Sustainability and Climate Action Plan address procurement? Join the seminar to learn about ongoing initiatives including Sustainable Purchasing Guidelines, sustainability statements included in Request for Proposals (RFPs) issued by the university, and purchasing goals drafted for the 2021 Sustainability and Climate Action Plan. Attendees will also learn how they can participate in online public forums to provide feedback for the plan draft.

As one of three faculty coordinators working with OHIO’s Office of Sustainability, Fogt’s Hub focuses on sustainability initiatives connected to the themes of Climate, Procurement, Human Resources, and Investments.

In 2019 Fogt created the Climate & Sustainability Ambassadors Program (CSAP) which provides opportunities for students to collaborate with others passionate about sustainability and climate literacy, to partner with local schools to further climate change education, and to help OHIO reach goals in the Ohio University Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.
