Ohio University and the City of Athens announce Community Compact

The following is a joint message from Athens Mayor Steve Patterson and Ohio University President Dr. M. Duane Nellis:

To the Ohio University and Athens communities,

The COVID-19 pandemic is a serious global health crisis that has had a direct impact on our community, and we all must do our part to stop the spread of this deadly disease. 

This pandemic has disrupted lives, livelihoods, educational engagement, and nearly all activities. It has also created great stress and anxiety, as we worry about the health of our friends and neighbors, and we continue to deal with dramatic changes to our daily lives.

As part of our response to the pandemic, the City of Athens and Ohio University have come together to form a Community Compact, stating how we will work together to fight the pandemic and to support one another.

We encourage each of you to read the Compact, take the actions that the Compact calls for, and to stay safe.
