OHIO online programs ranked among top in nation by U.S. News & World Report

Ohio University is ranked among the top 100 Best Online Bachelor’s programs in the nation in the latest rankings from U.S. News and World Report.

Four of OHIO’s online master's programs were also ranked among the nation’s best in rankings released earlier this month. Ohio University’s online graduate engineering program ranked in a tie for 38th in the nation; the Online Information Technology graduate program ranked in a tie for 45th; the Online Business Program (non-MBA) ranked in a tie for 78th; and the Online MBA program ranked in a tie for 109th. OHIO ranked in a tie for 99th in the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs rankings.

“Ohio University is committed to being accessible to a wide range of students by meeting them where they are,” Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis said. “Whether it’s on one of our beautiful campuses or in an online environment, we provide an educational experience that ranks among the best in the United States.”

OHIO ranked fourth in Ohio in the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs category. Of the 33,044 students at OHIO, approximately 48 percent are enrolled in an online class, and about 26 percent are enrolled exclusively online. About one-third of OHIO’s faculty regularly teach online, ensuring that all students have access to the same high-quality education, regardless of their location.

The Russ College of Engineering and Technology placed 38th in the nation, and third-best in Ohio out of nearly 100 programs ranked by U.S. News. It offers master’s degrees in civil engineering, electrical engineering and engineering management.

The Scripps College of Communication was ranked in the Best Online Information Technology category, tying for 45th overall and second in Ohio. The ranking includes information systems, computer science, computer engineering and software engineering programs.

The College of Business’ online master’s program (non-MBA) placed in a tie for 78th out of more than 170 programs, which is third-best in Ohio. The online MBA program ranked in a tie for 109th out of more than 300 programs, which is third-best in Ohio.

“Our innovative approaches and faculty dedication ensure that our students receive a top-quality educational experience,” Ohio University Executive Vice President and Provost Chaden Djalali said.

The ranked programs are among 75 programs ranging from associate’s to master’s offered at OHIO, with another 28 moving toward launch.

The rankings were compiled from information gathered by U.S. News and World Report in the summer and fall of 2019.
