University schedules final 2019 power outage on Dec. 21

Ohio University’s Facilities Management and Safety has scheduled a widespread electrical outage on the Athens Campus on Dec. 21 to allow for improvements to the campus electrical distribution system. Two other outages were held on Nov. 27 and Dec. 16, respectively.

The intent of these efforts is to provide an opportunity to perform preventative maintenance, upgrade equipment in the main electric substation and allow for the new HCOM Academic Facility and Chilled Water Plant 3 to be added to the University’s electric distribution system.  

The details of the final outage is provided below and has been carefully scheduled during non-business hours adjacent to major academic breaks to minimize impact to the University community. 

  • Outage 3:  Saturday, Dec. 21, through Sunday, Dec. 22, 8 p.m. (Saturday) through noon (Sunday). Total duration is 16 hours.

Buildings and areas that will not be impacted by the outage include:

31 S. Court Street
Bingham House
Columbus Road buildings
Konneker Alumni Center
Pilcher House
West State Street Research Park
West Union Street Office Center
