Apply to the OHIO Honors Program

First-Year Students

For priority consideration, students should apply to the University by the November 15 early action deadline. Applicants who apply after the early action deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.

Students who apply to the University by the early action deadline and meet the minimum g.p.a. requirement for the OHIO Honors Program or OHP-designated honors and scholars programs will be invited to complete a separate supplemental application in order to apply to any and all honors and scholars programs that interest them. 

Transfer Students

The OHIO Honors Program will consider transfer applications from high-achieving students outside of OHIO (external transfer) and on both the Athens and regional campuses (internal transfer), if space allows. 

External Transfer

Students transferring to OHIO from another institution and interested in applying to the OHIO Honors Program must:

• possess a minimum cumulative 3.3 college GPA from their previous institution(s)
• have at least 4 semesters remaining at OHIO
• apply for fall semester admission to OHIO
• meet the June 15 fall semester transfer priority application date

Transfer applicants to Ohio University who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to apply for the OHIO Honors Program following completion of their application for admission. 

Internal Transfer

Students enrolled at OHIO who would like to apply to the OHIO Honors Program must:

• possess a minimum cumulative 3.3 GPA  
• have at least 4 semesters remaining at OHIO 
• have completed at least one semester of coursework post-high school graduation and at least 15 credit hours

Students who meet the above criteria and who wish to apply to the OHIO Honors Program may do so by submitting the internal transfer application, which requires a copy of the student's DARS and OHIO GPA.
