Environmental Remediation

Resource extraction has allowed modern societies to flourish, but has also led to massive negative environmental impacts. Waste materials from used resources are often stored in impoundments or injected underground. These waste disposal methods can create further environmental implications beyond those associated with the original resource extraction. Researchers at OHIO are working on ways to minimize the environmental impact of these processes, including post-process remediation strategies.
