Office of Sustainability announces Climate and Sustainability Ambassadors Program

The Office of Sustainability has announced a new student program developed by the University’s new Sustainable Administration Hub.

Dr. Ryan Fogt, Sustainable Administration Hub Coordinator, has launched the Climate and Sustainability Ambassadors Program.

Interested students can apply for the program here.

Ambassadors will be advocates for the Office of Sustainability and will be active both on campus and in the local community.  On campus, the Ambassadors will participate in outreach and education to students, faculty and staff on aspects of climate change and sustainability.

Initial campus efforts will target student residents, Greek life, graduate students and new faculty and staff. Events such as Homecoming, Family Weekends and Athens Beautification Day will also be of focus.

Off campus, the Ambassadors will partner with community organizations and middle school science teachers to increase climate change and sustainability literacy through education and outreach programs.

Ambassadors will meet no more than once a month, with a targeted training each semester, and will gain valuable experience in community service, climate and sustainability literacy, education and outreach -- all while making a difference across campus and Southeast Ohio.

The Program provides opportunities for students to collaborate with others passionate about the environment and climate literacy, to partner with local schools to further climate change education, and to help the University reach goals in the Ohio University Sustainability and Climate Action Plans.
