Athens Campus lots to be evacuated by 5 p.m. Friday due to predicted rain and flood risk

Weather forecasts into the weekend predict heavy rain and potential flooding, which may affect several parking lots on the Athens Campus, including Jefferson Garage. For this reason, Transportation and Parking Services is asking that all permit holders evacuate Jefferson Garage by 5 p.m. today.

Vehicles may be relocated to any surface lot on the Athens Campus with the exception of those lots specifically listed below. Lot 104 (the purple lot across from Jefferson Garage entry) and Lot 44 (the dark green lot beside McCracken Hall) are the closest surface lots; however, please be aware that if flooding occurs, it will be across Stewart Street and may limit access to Lot 104. This closure is in effect through Monday, Feb. 26, at 5 p.m. TPS will communicate further if there are any changes. Please make sure your permit is clearly displayed when parking in alternative areas.

Please avoid parking in the following lots, as they have been identified as areas potentially impacted by flooding:

  • Lots 55, 67, 56, 57, 58 (South Green)
  • Lot 132 (Peden Stadium - back portion closest to Hocking River)
  • Lot 133 (back portion behind Walter Fieldhouse)
  • Convocation Center Garage

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact TPS at 740-593-1917.
