The University Hearing Board (UHB) is made up of students, faculty, and staff from across campus. UHB members are responsible for hearing suspension and expulsion level cases where a student or student organization has denied responsibility for an alleged violation of the Student Code of Conduct. UHB members conduct the hearing, ask questions, determine whether or not a violation occurred, and if so, reccommend a sanction to the Dean of Students. UHB members also sit on University Appeal Boards and review appeals from students who have gone through the Community Standards Process.
UHB recruitment and selection occurs each fall semester, and, if needed, in the spring. After an application and interview process, new members are selected. Members are required to attend a full day training and observe hearings prior to serving on the Board. Attendance at ongoing trainings throughout the year is also required. Student Board members are expected to maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and to remain in good conduct standing (i.e. not be on disciplinary probation) during their time on the Board. Students who have been through the Community Standards Process and are not currently on probation are strongly encouraged to apply.
