Classics & Religious Studies Giving Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Department of Classics & Religious Studies. The department’s current priorities include:

  • Student scholarships ($1,000 to $2,500 annually, per student)
  • Visiting speaker fund ($4,000 annually)
  • Study abroad assistance ($3,000 to $5,000 per student)
  • Funding for our Difficult Dialogues courses to support workshops, field trips, etc. ($10,000 annually)
  • Endowed professorships in Jewish Studies and Islamic Studies ($2,000,000 each)

General Support

The Department of Classics & Religious Studies Alumni Fund

  • Supports student and faculty activities including travel, research, special guests and other needs

The Jewish Studies Fund for Department of Classics & Religious Studies 

  • Supports the Jewish Studies Certificate program for things like lecturer costs, Jewish Studies experiential learning, and/or study abroad for Jewish Studies Certificate credit

The Professor D.J. Evans Memorial Fund for Classical Literature

  • Promotes the study of classical literature in memory of Professor D.J. Evans, who taught Latin and related subjects for 40 years to OHIO

The Hugh H. Davis Classics Endowment

  • Promotes the study of Latin and Greek

The George Weckman World Religions Prize

  • Annual prize for students doing outstanding work in the field of world religions.

The Clarke VanDervort and Mary Stanley Support and Scholarship Fund

  • Supports students studying abroad as well as rewards students for academic achievement in the study of the humanities

The VanDervort-Stanley Prize for Travel Abroad

  • Supports students travelling abroad for a purpose associated with their study

Classics & Religious Studies Archeological Research Study Abroad Fund

  • Supports students' study abroad/study away programs that involve archeology

The Ursula Feer Farfel Scholarship in Classics

  • Scholarship for students majoring in the Classics

The Paul R. and Alice N. Murphy Scholarship Fund

  • Scholarship for classical language majors

Octa J. Kincade Latin Scholarship

  • Scholarship for students who aspire to teach Latin

     

Faculty Enhancements

  • Supports faculty research and travel

Classics & Religious Studies Faculty Enhancement Fund

  • Enhances the course offerings within the Classics & Religious Studies department by supporting faculty needs
