Career Guidance

We know that your career journey doesn’t stop at graduation, so neither do we! Whether you’re looking to break into a new industry or move up in your company, our career coaches are available to meet in person, virtually, and over the phone to discuss your career goals. Schedule via Handshake by logging in with your OHIO ID and password or by requesting an account. You can also browse job opportunities on the Bobcat Network.

Schedule an Appointment on Handshake 

Please follow the steps below to schedule a career coaching appointment via Handshake.  

Already have a Handshake Account? 

Log into Handshake with Your OHIO ID and password. 

  • Click "Career Center" in the upper right 

  • Click "Appointments" 

  • Click "Schedule New Appointment" 

  • Select an appointment type based on your interests. If you're interested in working in a specific industry, you can schedule an appointment tailored to that industry for customized career guidance!   

  • Select your time and date 

  • Select your appointment medium and write a few sentences about what you'd like to discuss.  

  • Request the appointment and you'll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. 

Need a Handshake Account? 

  • Go to Handshake and register for a new account.  

  • When prompted to add your school, select Ohio University  

  • Handshake will prompt you to fill in information such as your major and graduation year 

  • Once you’ve filled out your information, Handshake will send you a confirmation email to create your account.  

  • The Career Network will review your request to connect within 2-3 business days. The Career Network may email you to request information needed to verify alumni status, so please keep an eye on your inbox! You’ll be notified via email when your request has been approved.  

  • After your request has been approved, click "Career Center" in the upper right screen 

  • Click "Appointments" 

  • Click "Schedule New Appointment" 

  • Select an appointment type based on your interests. If you're interested in working in a specific industry, you can schedule an appointment tailored to that industry for customized career guidance!   

  • Select your time and date
